Rebel Moon, the plot

From Zack Snyder, the director of 300, Man of Steel, and Army of the Dead, comes REBEL MOON, an epic sci-fi cinematic event that has been in the making for years. When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters ready to join her in an impossible fight, Kora assembles a small band of warriors: outsiders, rebels, peasants, and war orphans from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Kingdom falls on the most unlikely of moons, a battle is waged for the fate of a galaxy, and, in the process, a new army of heroes is born.

Netflix has released a small video preview of Rebel Moon, the Star Wars-inspired film by director Zack Snyder

During Geeked Week – the Netflix event dedicated to all their biggest previews – the streaming giant gave fans a first look at Rebel Moon, the Star Wars-inspired film from Justice League director Zack Snyder. The director has unveiled a new preview of the long-awaited science-fiction epic, a teaser shot directly from his iPhone.

Rebel Moon: plot and cast of Zack Snyder’s Netflix movie

Rebel Moon comes on the heels of Snyder’s Army of the Dead – which not only was a huge hit for Netflix but also spawned its own mini-franchise. The film is set in a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that is threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Belisarius. The settlers thus send a young woman with a mysterious past to seek warriors and support from nearby planets, begging them to take a stand against the Tyrant.

“This is me who grew up as an Akira Kurosawa fan and a Star Wars fan,” Snyder said when the film was announced. “It’s my love for science fiction and for a gigantic adventure. My hope is that this too will become a huge IP and a universe that can be built “. The film went by the wayside when Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012.

Shooting for the film began last April, as announced by the director on social media. The film boasts a stellar cast consisting of Sofia Boutella, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Ray Fisher, Doona Bae, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, Sky Yang, Rupert Friend, and Stuart Martin.
