Popular director Maniratnam’s latest movie is ‘Ponniyin Selvan‘. As it is a historical film, there are huge expectations. The movie is based on the novel ‘Ponniyan Selvan’ written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. This movie will be released in two parts. The first part will be released on September 30. Already the promotion programs for the movie are also going on in full swing.

This movie has a huge star cast like Chiyan Vikram as Aditya Karikala, Jayam Ravi as Arun Moli Varma, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, and Parthiban. Film analysts feel that ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is a good opportunity to show what Mani Ratnam can do to the current pan-India trend. But the hype on this movie in Tamil is not there in other languages.

Poor start for advance bookings in Hyderabad: Like ‘Baahubali’, the film team is hoping that this film will create euphoria across the country, but the interest in the film is minimal among the audience outside Tamil Nadu. In Hyderabad, proper advance bookings are not being done for this movie. Apart from AMB and Prasads, tickets are not being booked anywhere in the multiplexes. In those two theaters mostly people from the film industry booked the tickets.

A top producer like Dil Raju is releasing this movie in Telugu. Promotions were done accordingly. But it is not reflected in the ticket bookings. It will be difficult to continue like this. Once released, if there is positive talk, the tickets will be sold for sure. Let’s see what kind of response the movie gets!

Ponniyin Selvan craze in America:

It is remarkable that there is a huge craze for this movie in America. A week before the American premieres, tickets are being sold on a large scale. Five days before its release, the film crossed the half-million dollar mark. Presales are booming. But it seems that most of the bookings are for the Tamil version. There is not much hype for the Telugu and Hindi versions there either. 

Based on this, it is understood that Tamil people are taking this movie very seriously. It is said that the film will touch the million mark before the premieres… It is not surprising that it received the 1.5 million mark after the premieres. It seems that this movie is sure to get huge openings in Tamil Nadu as well.
