Ori Devuda ibomma: A few months ago, the young hero Vishwaksen was impressed with the film ‘Arjuna Kalyanam in Ashokavanam’. Now the movie from him is ‘Ori Devava’. Original director Aswath Marimuthu made this movie based on the Tamil movie ‘O My Kadavule’. Produced by top producers like Dil Raju Prasad V. Potluri, this film came to the audience today as a Diwali gift. Let’s see its features.
Ori Devuda ibomma Story:
Arjun (Vishwaksen) and Anu (Mithila Palkar) are childhood friends. Arjun says okay to marry Anu as Anu likes him. Both will get married. But Arjun does not have any feelings for Anu. Conflicts erupt in their camps. A situation arises where both have to divorce. An angel gives a second chance to Arjun, who thinks life with Anu is hell and is ready to break up with her. What was that chance? How did Arjun’s life turn around because of it? And how his journey with Anu finally reached the rest of the story.
Narrative-Analysis:
A movie called ’12 B’ came out in Tamil many years ago. Director Jeeva introduced a new story to the audience. In that movie, the hero gets on a bus to attend an interview and misses it. He feels a lot about it. But while showing what happened to his life due to missing the bus, the director directed another story parallel to how the hero’s life would have been if he had boarded that bus. The film finally conveys the message that it is right to enjoy life as it is. The concept of ‘Ori Devava’ is also the same.

Inspired by ’12 B’, young director Aswath Marimuthu presented this idea in a different way with different screenplay and narration in the film ‘O My Kadavule’. He has now remade the same in Telugu with the title ‘Ori Devava’. The highlight of this is the point that if there is a second chance in life… if there is a chance to improve lives. Fantasy ideas like these will appeal to anyone. Seems universal. So this idea worked out well in Telugu as well.
The feel-good factor throughout the movie is a big plus for ‘Ori Devava’. Most of the scenes are enjoyable. In some places, comedy is well worked out in this movie… Emotions are ripe. Otherwise, the slow narration causes a feeling of boredom here and there. Although the twists and turns in the story seem new, before and after them, the film feels like a routine.
The first half of the story revolves around a guy who says yes to marrying a friend who has grown up with him since childhood. The difficulties faced by the hero in the toilet commode factory run by his uncle are hilarious. Most of the entertainment in the first half is those scenes. Differences of opinion between husband and wife.. quarrels.. misunderstandings.. and then going to court for divorce.. all this is a normal affair.
And what surprises the audience in the first half is the fantasy angle. Venky is a modern-looking god. Vishwaxen’s buzz with Rahul Ramakrishna as his assistant is impressive. The interlude twist about God giving the second chance to the hero increases the curiosity.

Some of the scenes that follow the hero’s efforts to go back in life and change his life seem crazy. The episode which seems to be the highlight of the entire movie comes in the second half. In the context of the heroine’s father whom she understands differently.. the emotion in it will move the audience. The director has designed these scenes which are very heartfelt.
But here the movie takes an emotional turn and keeps the audience in the same mood till the end. After the realization starts coming in the hero.. every scene runs in the same way. The audience will get an idea of how the story will go till the end. Raanu Raanu Melo Drama has increased.. the movie is running too slowly. But it’s a plus that no scene feels bad.
Everything is fine but the chemistry between the lead pair does not seem to work out anywhere. The downside is that the audience did not have a strong desire to meet them. But the slow-running movie ends with a bit of fun. Overall, ‘Ori Devdava’ is not a match for time-pass entertainment. Emotions..comedy is well worked out. It doesn’t feel like wow but.. this is an ‘okay’ movie.
Actors:
Vishwaxen is a good performer, nothing new to say. After ‘Ashokavanamo Arjuna Kalyanam’ he looked completely different in this film. It feels like a tailor-made role for him. He easily fits into the role of Arjun, a modern youth. Not only in the scenes showing frustration as an average husband struggling with his wife, but also in the emotional scenes, he impressed. Mithila Parker looks like an average girl rather than a heroine.
She acted well as per the role. Another heroine is Asha Bhatt. Murali Sharma shines in the pivotal role. He showed his experience. Victory Venkatesh impressed in a crucial cameo role, even though it was only seen for a short time. He gives good cheer to the audience. Rahul Ramakrishna also gives a good josh as Venky’s assistant. Venkatesh Kakumanu is okay as the hero’s friend.
Technical category:
Aswat Marimuthu continued for the Telugu version with the technicians who worked for Matrika. They have given the output according to the taste of our audience without spoiling the beauty of the original. Leon James’s music was brilliant. Anirudh’s song in the heart gives a good vibe. Other songs.. background music is also good. Vidhu Ayanna’s cinematography was neat and colorful.
Good production values are seen in the film produced by two big banners. The film was spent as much as it required. Director Aswath Marimuthu has followed the hype of his film in Tamil. As the plot is universal, there is no problem in Telugu due to its novelty. Although some directors have touched this point in the past… Aswat was impressed with a different presentation. Along with the story, his screenplay is also impressive. It would have been better if the first half was cooked a little more crispy. Tarun Bhaskar’s words flow naturally and impressively.
Finally: Oh god Ori.. an ok entertainer
