Thor: Kevin Feige and Chris Hemsworth are open to a future for the character

Marvel Studios boss and beefy actor want to give the Norse superhero another chance.

Thor is certainly one of the most iconic and appreciated characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: the Norse god of thunder, played by Chris Hemsworth (Tyler Rake, Spiderhead), made his debut within the universe of The House of Ideas in 2011, at the inside of Phase 1 of the Marvel Strategic Plan.

Well, over the years, the character has encountered several changes, and, especially with Thor: Ragnarok (2017), there have been some big changes. Now that Thor: Love and Thunder, also directed and written by Taika Waititi, is coming, many thought that the superhero was about to end his life on screen, but in reality, this aspect is not so obvious.

Thor: Love and Thunder arrives in cinemas on 7 July 2022

In fact, both Chris Hemsworth and Kevin Feige, current president of Marvel Studios, have hinted that they are open to any future development of the character. Specifically, in interviews reported by Heroic Hollywood, the two were particularly optimistic. In detail, Hemsworth said he loves Thor very much but is also ready to retire when the time is right to do so.

Whenever the opportunity presents itself and presents itself, I am simply open to any creative exploration that may happen, thanks to different writers and directors and so on. But I like playing the character, really. […] I’d like to go out before people tell me to go out.

The boss of The House of Ideas, however, relied on the fact that there are still so many stories of Thor that need to be explored and that could actually take hold on the big screen.

I know: there are many, many more Thor stories in the comics that we talk a lot about. And as we watch Chris Hemsworth continue to grow and evolve as a leading acting talent, I’d be thrilled to see how he continues to evolve this complex character.
