Godzilla vs Kong: The Big Clash Is Coming, what do we see in the trailer for Godzilla vs Kong?

Goszilla Kong

We’ve been waiting for it for years after the official announcement, but finally, the battle we’ve all been waiting for comes to theaters. Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have unveiled the long-awaited trailer for Godzilla vs Kong, the film directed by Adam Wingard in theaters this year. The clash between the two legendary icons leads us to live an epic adventure that will decide the fate of the whole world.

After revitalizing Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla monster movie, bringing the monkey king back to the cinema thanks to Kong: Skull Island and driving fans crazy with all the historical lizard enemy monsters seen in Godzilla II – King of the Monsters is here the moment of the definitive challenge, that between a King and a God. But what do we see in the trailer for Godzilla vs Kong?

God vs King

First of all, we find the most famous King in the world, Kong, on a ship that will take him home, on a dangerous journey that is his last hope. Accompanying him, besides his human “friends”, is a young orphaned girl who seems to have the gift of communicating with him and whom Kong feels he must protect at all costs. The situation becomes complicated when an enraged Godzilla arrives on their journey ready to destroy the whole world. While the two divinities struggle, a mystery is slowly discovered that comes from the center of the Earth.

Kong has definitely changed, the look they have chosen for this film shows it to us aged, with a long and slightly graying “beard” despite its size has increased dramatically, was it the effect of some radiation on the island? After all, doing the math well, more than 40 years would have passed since Skull Island and time passes for him too.

A small spoiler of his presence, but above all that heralded the clash between him and Godzilla, was also given to us in Godzilla II – King of the Monsters, when in a scene set in the laboratory among the various photos of monsters who were making they’ve appeared on Earth there was also Kong still present on the island.

Kong and Godzilla

In the trailer we are shown small anticipation of the battle that promises to be spectacular, the right hook that Kong gives Godzilla on the aircraft carrier in the middle of the sea is already iconic, the two seem to then move to the mainland and continue the fight until we see Kong grab an ax (magical?) that reflects the rays of Godzilla, all accompanied by music made of deep bass that emphasizes the atmosphere of the film.

Could this be the epilogue of the battle? Certainly, the two are not alone, other creatures come from the depths of the Earth and the film is ready to reveal to us what is the mystery behind this battle. In a collapsing world, perhaps our only hope of salvation is to rely on monsters, because as it says in the trailer “we need Kong, even if he does not bow to anyone”.

The MonsterVerse back to The Cinema

The film is the fourth installment of the MonsterVerse that started with Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla II – King of the Monsters (2019) and appears to be the continuation of Kong’s journey. In the film, in addition to finding Millie Bobby Brown in the role of Madison Chandler, who goes in search of truth right in the bowels of the Earth, and Kyle Chandler in the role of Dr. Mark Russell and Madison’s dad, as a new entry there is the fascinating Alexander Skarsgard, who plays the geologist Nathan Lind responsible for the conservation of Kong, Rebecca Hall as Ilene Andrews, Eiza González as the very intelligent Maya Simmons, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Julian Dennison, and Demián Bichir.

The film is directed by horror specialist Adam Wingard from a screenplay by Eric Pearson (Thor: Ragnarok) and Max Borenstein, who curated the last two monster movies. The film’s sets have been spread all over the world, as we see in the trailer itself, the crew shot in Hawaii, Australia, Missouri, Queensland, and Hong Kong. The film will be released this year in theaters and on HBO Max. Who are you cheering for?
