The prequel series of Outlander, a beloved fantasy series based on the novels of Diana Gabaldon, is in development.
One of the most successful fantasy series is progressing thanks to a spin-off! The STARZ network has in fact announced that the Outlander prequel has been officially ordered, an appreciated and followed series starring Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, based on the novels by Diana Gabaldon. First announced in February, the prequel spin-off now has an official title and synopsis as well.

The prequel will be titled Outlander: Blood of My Blood and work has officially begun on writing the drama, which will follow the love story of Jamie Fraser’s parents. The series will be available for streaming on STARZPLAY. At the moment it does not have a release date. Among the producers of the prequel, we also find the creator of the mother series (currently in production with its seventh season), Ronald D. Moore, while the script is Matthew B. Roberts, who will also act as showrunner and executive producer along with Maril Davis.

The series is inspired by Diana Gabaldon’s books, which have sold nearly 50 million copies worldwide, with all nine titles on the New York Times bestseller list. The Outlander television series has become a worldwide success with audiences, embracing the genres of history, science fiction, romance, and adventure in one extraordinary tale.
