Black Adam is – at the moment – the only DC cinecomic scheduled for 2022. Amidst problems related to post-production and legal troubles for the performers, Warner Bros. was in fact forced to modify a large part of the DCEU release list. The fate of the comic-based Universe is therefore on the shoulders of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. After numerous leaks, photos, and official trailers, the film shows itself in the latest, spectacular trailer, which portrays the hero in serious danger and anticipates numerous and unpredictable implications of the plot.

Black Adam, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, will be available in cinemas from 21 October 2022 and will tell the story of a character little known to the general public. The film will therefore be configured as an origin story, of which you have a first glimpse in the trailer. In fact, the movie opens with a voiceover that explains the origin of the anti-hero’s powers, born from the anger of having lost his son – sacrificed himself to save his life – and therefore considered more a curse than a gift.
The trailer then shows, for the first time, the return of Amanda Waller, played – as happened in Suicide Squad and in the James Gunn reboot – by Viola Davis. Waller appears, in this version, to be very closely linked to the Justice Society of America – a group of superheroes from Golden Age DC – who will appear alongside Black Adam.
In the film, to lend body and voice to the members of the team are Pierce Brosnan – Doctor Fate -, Aldis Hodge – Hawkman -, Noah Centineo – Atom Smasher -, Quintessa Swindell – Cyclone. But the surprises don’t end there. In fact, the clip ends with a shot showing the cinecomic villain, the fearsome and demonic Sabbac, shot only from behind, while facing Hawkman. Interpreting the four psychopaths who besiege the hut of the couple – lost in the woods of New Hampshire – are instead Nikki Amuka-Bird (Old), Dave Bautista – Drax of the MCU, coming soon on Netflix in the sequel to Knives Out -, Rupert Grint – Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter saga, formerly directed by Shyamalan in the Apple Servant series -, and Abby Quinn. The director returns to the cinema after the success of Old, which hit the box office all over the world in the summer of 2021, while not totally convincing critics and audiences.

Director Naveen (Sudheer Babu) who has given five super hit films immediately, is thinking of making a slightly different film this time. While Burra is trying to make films with commercial elements but also a different subject in order to make a name for himself, while traveling on the road, he finds a damaged film reel. Suspecting whether reels are being used even in the digital age, he washes the reel in a lab he knows.

Analysis:
Films, film production backgrounds, and films like making films with the hero as a director have come out in the past. Mohan Krishna Indraganti wrote this story which is different from all of them. A point where an inexperienced commercial director tries to go outside of his style and accidentally gets struck by a reel is a bit exciting for the audience. But after introducing the characters in the first half, the director took a lot of time to take them into the story.
Right before the interval, they end with a twist and after going into the second half, if they want to increase the speed of the story, they will move ahead with a bit of a stretching trend. If you look at the story, the line is interesting, but the director has not succeeded in bringing it to the audience in the final stage. If you compare Mohan Krishna Indraganti’s previous films as a director, this film seems to lack his mark. Moreover, it is needless to say that the expectations formed by the Mohan Krishna-Sudhir Babu combo have become troublesome in this movie.
Performance
Sudheer Babu acted in his own style as usual in this movie. He somehow got a role where he could dominate and act with Kriti Shetty in the entire film. Kriti Shetty also shines in two different roles in the film. It must be said that she has done justice to both characters.
And Rahul Ramakrishna, who appeared in the role of the hero’s friend and writer, also performed a settled role after a long time. And as usual, Vennela Kishore tried to take the movie forward with his comedy timing. And Srikanth Iyengar’s performance in the role of Alekhya’s father is a plus for the movie. And the rest of them acted in the scope of their roles and were impressed.
Technical team
As far as the technical team is concerned, this movie is written and directed by Mohan Krishna Indraganti. Although the story is good, the final output seems to be a bit wobbly. It must be said that Mohan Krishna Indraganti did not meet his mark. In terms of music, Vivek Sagar tried to impress with some songs.
Also, the background score is also impressive and Marthand K Venkatesh has to work for his scissors in the second half. PG Vinda’s camera work was seen in many scenes. Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali is an emotional drama. Apart from the story, this is a movie that can be watched with the family without any problem. The title justification is good even if it seems a bit routine and feels stretched.
