Thalapathy Vijay Leo Movie First Review: There are huge expectations for Vijay ‘Leo’ in Telugu states as well. The reason for this is that Lokesh Kanagaraj is the director of this movie along with him. The main reason is that the movie is in LCU (Lokesh Kanagaraj Cinematic Universe)! The film had huge openings before its release. Released today worldwide.
Leo Movie Story:
Parthiban (Vijay) has a coffee shop in a small town in the state of Himachal Pradesh! He lives happily with his wife Satya (Trisha) and two children (a boy, and a girl). Parthiban’s photos appear in the papers after saving the Hyena from the village people and the village people from the Hyena.
Then the real trouble begins. Antony Das (Sanjay Dutt) & the gang from AP come to Himachal Pradesh in search of him. Antony tells Sathya that he thought his son Leo Das (Vijay) was dead all these years, but he is in Himachal Pradesh with the name Partiban, and his husband’s real name is Partiban.
Who is the real Leo Das? What is his past? Who are the Antony Das, and Harold Das (Arjun) Brothers? Did Leo Das really die? Or did he start a new life with the name of Parthiban? What finally happened? To know that means to watch the movie.
Leo Movie Analysis:
Will ‘Leo’ be in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Cinematic Universe (LCU)? Or? Anela has created a bit of curiosity. No need for those doubts anymore. Constable Napoleon in ‘Prisoner’ is in ‘Leo’. In the pivotal scenes, ‘Vikram’ gets a phone call from Kamal Haasan to ‘Leo’.
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has very cleverly connected Vijay’s film to LCU. There is no threat to the story by saying these two things. These are not even the main twists. Hence, the audience will not miss any thrill. When it comes to how the movie is…
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has gained fans in Telugu as well as shooting the action scenes in a stylish & new way and driving the stories forward with a racy screenplay. ‘Leo’ also has his style. The fight with the hyena at the beginning of the movie, the shootout in the coffee shop, and the ‘Leo’ flashback episodes are good. But… Lokesh Kanagaraj’s style is limited. The film did not continue throughout.
The director and producer did not want to make ‘Leo’ as an out-and-out action movie. The action was planned along with the story. Although the action dose was low… It was very interesting till the interval. Although one character comes after another… The story moves forward with an engaging screenplay.
The fights in between give the audience a high. After the interval, the real story started. Parthiban, is Leo the only one? Are the two different? The second half was run on point. It gives a stretched feeling. Although the car chase action scene was good… The climax fight was not that impressive. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj should have paid more attention to this regard.
Coming to the technical aspects… Manoj Paramahamsa’s cinematography is top-class. The camera moments in the iconic scenes are superb. Not only that one sequence… Throughout ‘Leo’ the mood of the scenes was set by different lighting to suit the scenes.
Background music by Anirudh Ravichander is good. After ‘Vikram’ and ‘Jailer’, expectations are high of him. With ‘Leo’ it is a bit difficult to get them. But… typical & unique BGM is given. Telugu lyrics are not good in songs. Production values are of a high standard.
Leo Movie Actors Performance:
This is a film made by Vijay who kept stardom and commercial aspects aside. He was seen as the father of a little baby in the movie ‘Theri’ (Police in Telugu). But, in this movie, he played the father of a boy of the same height as him. Vijay’s characterization is new. But that’s not a character graph. If the flashback episode elevates the heroism… Lokesh Kanagaraj has also succeeded in giving the commercial fights that fans want from him.
Trisha has accepted the role of a mother. Vijay and Trisha Jodi… As husband and wife, the chemistry between them is good. There is a lip lock in a good emotional scene. Both children acted well.
The introductions given by Sanjay Dutt as Antony Das and Arjun Sarja as Harold Das are good. However, … Neither the ending given to those characters nor their scenes with the hero are up to the expectations of the audience. Gautham Menon and Mansoor Ali Khan acted in a range of roles. Priya Anand shines in a small cameo role. Madonna Sebastian (Madonna Sebastian) got a good role to turn the story. Others are ok.
The bottom line is: Considering ‘Khaidi’, ‘Vikram’, and LCU… ‘Leo’ falls behind expectations. LCU aside… Action movie lovers will love it. Typical Lokesh Kanagaraj action scenes entertain the audience. There are things that will please Vijay’s fans. It is difficult to work out magic like ‘Vikram’.
