At Netflix Tudum the release date of one of the most anticipated series and its spin-off has finally been revealed!
Netflix is poised to conquer its audiences with unprecedented autumn programming. During the Netflix Tudum, the release dates of some of the most anticipated projects were announced, including Enola Holmes 2, the fifth season of The Crown, and the 1899 series. off of a show that has already become a cult. The Witcher: Blood Origin will be available from December 25th. On Saturday evening, the release window for the third season of the “mother” series was also announced: The Witcher 3 will therefore be in the catalog already in the summer of 2023.
The Witcher – an expanding franchise
The Witcher: Blood Origin isn’t the only spin-off in the works. In fact, anime films and TV series for families are expected, always based on the video game that gave life to the television franchise. The spin-off arriving on December 25 stars Michelle Yeoh – coming soon screens with Everything Everywhere All at Once – in the role of Scian, the latest member of a nomadic tribe of elves on a mission to recover a stolen blade from her family.
Completing the cast are Sophia Brown, Laurence O’Fuarain, Mirren Mack, Lenny Henry – formerly in the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power -, Jacob Collins, Lizzie Annis, Huw Novelli, Francesca Mills, Amy Murray, Nathaniel Curtis, Zach Wyatt, and Dylan Moran. The series is set about 1200 years before The Witcher, of whose third season not many details are known yet. Henry Cavill – expected on Netflix also in Enola Holmes 2 – will return to play the role of Geralt of Rivia. Alongside him, as always, Ciri (Freya Allan) and Yennifer (Anya Chalotra).
Witcher: Blood Origin will tell about some fundamental events, which led to the creation of the world in which The Witcher is set, or the “creation of the first prototype of Witcher and the events that lead to the fundamental conjunction of the spheres, when the worlds of monsters, men and elves have merged. ” The series is created by Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the executive producer.
