Disney + has finally revealed the official release date of The Old Man, a gripping new drama written and created by Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine starring Jeff Bridges. The series will debut in Italy on September 28 with the first two episodes of the seven that make up the first season. Based on Thomas Perry’s bestselling novel of the same name, The Old Man centers on the character of Dan Chase, who escaped from the CIA decades ago, and has lived in the shadows for decades. When a hitman tries to kill him, the old agent realizes that to secure his future he must reconcile with his past.
With Dan Chase out of hiding, FBI Deputy Director of Counterintelligence Harold Harper – played by John Lithgow – is called to hunt him down due to his complicated past with the rebel fugitive. Alongside Harper are his protégé Angela Adams (Alia Shawkat) and CIA Special Agent Raymond Waters (E.J. Bonilla).
When capturing Chase becomes more complicated than authorities expected, Julian Carson (Gbenga Akinnagbe), a highly trained special forces professional, is also tasked with capturing him. While on the run, Chase rents a room from Zoe McDonald (Amy Brenneman), who will use unexpected resources to survive when she learns the truth about her new tenant. Among the protagonists of the drama series also Bill Heck, Leem Lubany, and Pej Vahdat.
The Old Man executive producers are Warren Littlefield, Steinberg, Dan Shotz, Levine, Jeff Bridges, David Schiff, and Jon Watts, who also directed the first two episodes. The series is produced by 20thTelevision in association with The Littlefield Company. The series has already been renewed for a second season.
